Think Tanks and Political Foundations
Following the European Summer University and European Ideas Fair in Berlin (September 2004), representatives of centre-right think tanks and political foundations from across the EU met at the initiative of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, to discuss possibilities for future joint action and cooperation. This was the first meeting of its kind, on anything approaching such a scale, ever to be held in Europe.
Around 25 organisations signed a joint declaration in Berlin, committing themselves to work together and support centre-right policy makers. Today, around 45 bodies are now formally or informally associated with this initiative. A list of the think tanks and foundations involved is attached.
The bodies involved invited the European Ideas Network to coordinate their joint activities. They also decided to launch a series of joint Task Forces on major subjects, designed specifically to feed into EIN and other events.
